FURTHER OPPORTUNITIES - INTERNATIONAL SERVICE TEAM
As with other Jamborees there will be an opportunity for those members over 18years to become part of the International Service Team (IST).
FURTHER OPPORTUNITIES - COUNTY EXPEDITION.
As this Jamboree is being held in Europe it gives the County an another opportunity to offer further International experiences to more of our members by holding a County Expedition to Sweden over the same period of time. This will give more of our young people to explore Sweden and take part in activities, and have day visits to the Jamboree.
It will also provide an opportunity to hold a prestigious Explorer Belt expedition, whilst being members of the County Group.
COUNTY TEAMS.
The County Commissioner has appointed two leaders to lead the Coventry 2011 Jamboree Contingent. They are Sarah Miller and Samantha Rowe, and congratulations go to both!
Contact has already been made with the GirlGuiding UK unit and the leader of the British Groups Abroad Unit who will make up the complete contingent.
Applications to join the team are now closed and selection has started from the applications to join our leaders for Sweden 2011. From the list of applicants we will select the contingent team and a reserve list.
There is much work to do before 2011, selection and training of the contingent to ensure that they are a complete team capable of living and working together for three weeks in a foreign country.
Fundraising for the Jamboree is an important part of the experience for young people, and we have a massive task ahead of us. If you are doing anything or planning to do anything to raise funds could you please ensure that the leadership team are informed:
Chainsawscout@hotmail.com
amorris72@tiscali.co.uk
sammy_rowe@lineone.net
we have been asked by the county to put together a 'master plan' of how we are going to raise the funds and it is important that all items are included. We are looking for people to help us so if you have a skill or a particular 'thing' you like to do then please get in touch - we would love to hear from you.
I think it is fantastic that the people of this county are showing their support in such a proactive way. I was just a little shocked when a young person tried to flog me a raffle ticket at St George's Day for the Jamboree!
I have registered the Jamboree unit on:
http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/
we are registered under Coventry Scouts Jamboree Unit.
How it works is that when you buy online we get donations.....so please use it, this is money for the young people without packing bags or walking miles so it has to be worth it.
Please pass it on to friends and family and help us get to Sweden.
Kind Regards
Sarah Miller
