Were you a member of Scout Fellowship? Have you now joined a Scout Active Support Unit since Fellowship ceased to exist at the end of last year? Are you a non-registered supporter of scouting in your group, district or in the county? Have you and skills that you would like to offer to scouting across the county?
I would like to invite you to be part of the new "Coventry Active Support Unit".
There are likely to be 4 units operating in the County or being formed, they are:-
Central County Active Support Unit
Rough Close Working Party Unit
Coventry Gang Show Active Support Unit
Gateway Active Support Unit
It is hoped that Districts will set up their own units, but being registered centrally does not prevent you joining any unit that is set up. (Bablake have at this present time registered one unit – The BP House Service team)
The Central County Unit is there to support not only county activities, other than those areas specifically covered by the other units, but support across all districts, where needed. Other units may be set up as demand occurs - if you have any ideas please do not hesitate to contact me. Activities and events will be decided by each unit according to their interests and skills.
If you are already a registered leader you should not have to complete any further forms, just send me your name, membership number and contact details. If you are not presently registered and wish to be a full member of the association then you will need to complete an AA form. By being full members of the association you will be entitled to wear/continue to wear uniform, be covered by the association’s insurance and receive Scouting magazine bi-monthly. The subscription for full membership is approximately 50p a week. It would be hoped that the units, if they wished could carry out some form of fund raising in the future to cover some of the costs of the annual subscription. Others will need to complete the OH form as Occasional Helpers.
